Our Fertility Journey

Unlike 85% of couples out there, Zachery and I were unable to conceive without medical interventions.

Our journey started in 2018 when we both had decided that we were finally ready to try for an “ours” baby. I had my birth control removed in November. In April of 2019, I was diagnosed with “unexplained infertility”. Those words are enough to punch anyone in the gut. I was told I was not ovulating naturally. This meant that we would be able to try using medication to assist with our journey. So in May of 2019, I started my first round of Clomid. I finally ovulated but we still did not get those two lines when taking a test. The round of medication and negative tests continued on and off until December of 2020. One thing they do not tell you when you begin this journey is that it is emotionally trying and sometimes you just have to step back and try again when you are mentally strong again. In December of 2020, I began to see a new doctor, Doctor Sara Swift. She was finally able to diagnose me with PCOS. PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is the reason I was not ovulating on my own and why I was having such a long journey seeing the double lines. Doctor Swift told me that our next steps were to start up a round of Clomid again and to also do an HSG test to verify there was no blockage of my fallopian tubes. In January of 2021, this test was completed.

As I was walking out of the HSG, Doctor Swift said “This is your month, I can just feel it”.

February 19th 2021, my birthday, I saw those two lines!
