Update #3 for Wyatt Paul Sherwood
8.12.21
So our little Irish Leo baby is fighting hard for mama and daddy! I couldn't be more proud of him. He is gaining weight. I will post a picture of his weight calendar in a bit. He is breathing room oxygen amounts on the ventilator. This just means that he doesn't need extra for his little lungs. He only needs to have more oxygen through his ventilator when he is unswaddled and having things done (diaper change or vitals). He is still on the bilirubin lights because of his bruising. They explained, and I agree, better safe than sorry, when it comes to jaundice or bruising on babies, they treat it with a bilirubin light so there is less risk of neurological damage. I was told today that because he is doing so well and his bruising is coming down they are looking at weaning him off of the bilirubin lights. Tonight Zachery and I will be able to each, do skin to skin/hold him for the first time, for 45 min each! I am so excited for that. Wyatt is also tolerating breastmilk very well. He is now on 5ml of breastmilk every 4 hours!
I can't thank the doctors, nurses and everyone that has been caring for us all during this time.
