Update #61 for Wyatt Paul Sherwood

10.9.21

So Wyatt had his room air test this morning and lasted about 15 to 20 min before starting to desat.  This means they put him back on oxygen.  They are going to see what insurance says but they normally wait another week and try him off of the oxygen again.  Insurance may end up requesting that he come on oxygen but because he is doing so well in all other aspects of his NICU stay.  The NICU will try to keep him there and take him off one more time in a week.  They said that it is taking him longer to desat each time so his lungs are getting stronger but he still needs a little more time.

Dear God please let this help him go to room air as mommy and daddy want him home without oxygen.

Weight: 6lbs 1.7oz
Height: 18.11in
Head: 12in
Gestation: 37.6 weeks
Age/NICU stay: 61 days
Accomplishments: 150ml of feeds per day, normal range for a baby doing free feedings!

These are the qualifications for Wyatt to get home too: eating a full bottle or "feed" without problems, be able to regulate his body temperature in a crib, be on room air/ no cords, be at least 4lbs 5oz and pass the carseat test.
Carseat Test: must sit in thd carseat for 90 to 120 minutes or the length of the car ride home (45 min), whichever is longer. During the test, the nurse will monitor your baby’s heart rate, breathing and oxygen level. As long as there is no change and he can hold his head up okay, without problem than he passes!

Oh, and mommy and daddy have to pass the baby CPR, shaken baby and carseat safety tests before he comes home. DONE!

I can't thank the doctors, nurses and everyone that has been caring for us all during this time.
😇🙏🏻 Thank you so much Wyatt's Warriors, please keep the prayers coming! 🙏🏻😇
